Antique Car Anodized Aluminum Restoration
Nu-Chrome specializes in high quality chrome plating
Aluminum anodizing is an electrochemical process by which an aluminum part is converted into aluminum oxide on the surface. This anodized aluminum coating offers several beneficial properties, including:
- - Increased corrosion resistance
- - Increased durability / wear resistance
- - Ability to be colored through dying
- - Electrical insulation
Though very durable, anodized aluminum trim will eventually fade & break down over time, making the surface dull & irregular. We'll strip the old anodize, polish & buff to a mirror finish, then re-anodize in either a bright dip or color of your choice.
Along with this service, we are capable of restoring bent, dented, nicked, or otherwise damaged pieces back to their original form. This is a great way to refresh original parts & bring them back to their original appearance. Parts include door, window, & body trim, grilles, rocker panel mouldings, & assorted interior or exterior parts.
If desired, aluminum parts can be chrome plated. The process is identical to the process used for steel, except for the use of special pre-plating solutions to allow the copper, nickel, & chrome plating to adhere to the aluminum surface.
